Davy Todd’s Brake Isle of Man SuperSport Race 2 failed to “change results”

After missing a podium finish at Monday’s Supersport race, Davie Tod returned to the podium for Supersport Race 2 at Man TT Island despite rear brake issues.

Todd was over 20 seconds behind Dean Harrison’s 15-second drift by the end of the race, more than 20 seconds behind Michael Dunlop, who was the winner of Harrison himself.

However, despite the lack of rear brakes from the lap one, Todd felt that would not affect his finishing position.

“It was a tough race. It’s always going to be tough,” Todd said in a post-race television interview.

“I went off the start and bowed my head from the start and tried to get a chance to join in the mix of the first few laps.

“I lost the rear brake on the first lap, so that wasn’t ideal, but I managed the whole thing.

“I don’t think the outcome has changed so much. We probably would have been a little closer to Dean (Harrison).

“I was very grateful for doing my best and giving the Padgett team a great bike. It was really fun.”

Todd added that he’ll get better with the larger bikes on TT as he struggles with the physical requirements of low-power supersport bikes.

“I think a small bike is much tougher than a big bike,” he said.

“I’m in exactly one position and trying to be pushed all the way around the course, rubbing it against my chest.

“I did my best, but I think that’s everything today.”
