Liverpool defender Ibrahima Conate’s future at Anfield remains uncertain as contract negotiations continue, with great interest from European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old French International, whose current contract expires in 2026, has been a key figure in Liverpool’s defense since his arrival from RB Leipzig in 2021.
Liverpool hopes to begin contract extension talks to ensure Conate services in the long term.
However, there is no agreement yet for the new contract for the French international defender.
Conate faces an uncertain future in Liverpool
As reported by BBC journalist Sam Mokbell, Al Giral of the pro league side of Saudi Arabia, joined Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of Liverpool defender Connect.
“One of the names to watch is Ibrahima konate.” Mokbel said in a Q&A on their website.
“He is discussing a new deal, but his existing deals will expire at the end of next season.
“If an agreement cannot be reached, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool will consider an offer in 2026 to avoid losing him. Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Hilal are clubs I’ve heard of, interested in Conate.”
Liverpool is faced with sensitive situations, especially after Trent Alexander Arnold set out for Real Madrid.
The Reds are keen to avoid repeated scenarios where key players leave with free transfers.
So, if the contract negotiations with Conate do not result in a positive outcome, Liverpool may consider offerings for the defender to secure a transfer fee.
The Reds may need to sign a new centreback
The situation surrounding Ibrahimaconate remains what you’ll be watching. Reds supporters want a resolution that believes the talented defender continues his journey at Anfield, helping the team pursue further success.
He is a regular starter for the Premier League champions under Arne Slot, with the defender last season making appearances in 31 leagues.
The Reds are tied to the moves of Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech, who previously faced similar contract situations to Conate at Selhurst Park.
