Pena doubts he will gain respect following UFC 316
Prior to UFC 316, Juliana Pena admitted that she didn’t expect to get credits from anyone if she defeated Harrison (via MMAFighting).
“You never knew because you didn’t because you were trying to give me that respect to defeating the greatest thing ever (Amanda Nunez),” Peña said. “I say this often, but it’s very true, it’s never enough. It doesn’t matter what you do, it’s never enough. Everyone wants more from you.”
Pena is a huge underdog who will enter the title defense on Saturday. The two-time UFC title holder explained why she is in the role of a loser in her favor.
“I was told that I was a 6-1 weaker and that it was very rude to be a 6-1 weaker as a champion,” Peña said. “No. 2, everyone counts me. Of the six, only one of them thinks I’m going to win the fight and I’m going to lose in five seconds, so I think I’ve already got out of this fight, so I don’t think I have anything to lose.”
