Manchester United were interested in signing Naples striker Victor Osimchen, and they made an attempt on a potential move.

Manchester United are about to sign a player, but at this time there is nothing specific, according to a report from the Naples-based publication Corriere del Mezzogiorno.

The players will have a 75 million euro release clause on the contract, and it will be interesting to see if Manchester United are willing to pay. The striker was present at Turkish club Galatasarei last season, where he scored 37 goals in all competitions. In comparison, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee scored a total of 17 goals this season.

Osimhen will try to sort out his future

Nigeria International is also linked to Saudi Arabia clubs. He needs to sort out his long-term future and it will be interesting to see where he will ultimately go. The player has no future with the Italian champions. He will look to Naples forever.

Manchester United could be his ideal destination. He proved himself in the Premier League and they are one of the largest clubs in the world. Signing the 26-year-old striker would be a big coup for the Red Devils. He was one of the best attackers in world football and was able to change them with the offense.

Osimhen is also linked to Liverpool.

Man United need Victor Osimen

Aside from his ability to consistently find the backstage of the net, he can also create opportunities for his teammates. Osimhen scored eight assists last season. The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality in the market today. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United is ready to beat the bank for him. They recently signed Matheus Cunha for a fee of around £62.5 million.

The Italian report alleges that Naples President Aurelio de Laurentiz refuses to lower his demands. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United agrees to pay the asking price.
