Spurs, comparable to Arsenal, sign their own Mbeumo

They eventually saw the team lift a great honor in the Europa League, but we think most Tottenham Hotspur fans are happy to see the backstage of this season.

For example, apart from the success of the continent, the North Londoners fell far down 17th in the Premier League, failing to pass the fourth round of the FA Cup.

So whether Ange Postecoglou is still in the work or not, Daniel Levy and Co need to do everything they can to bring in the right players this summer.

Luckily, the club appears to be on the same page. Because now they combine North Londoners with an incredible talent that could be the answer to Manchester United’s seemingly pressing signature on Brian Mbeumo.

Tottenham Transfer News

Back in the January transfer period, the Spurs were one of several Premier League sides that are very largely linked to Mbeumo’s move, and nothing happened, but the link didn’t disappear.

In fact, the Brentford star was still advertised for the move to the N17, just like last month, but this week, it was all hopeful that North Londoners would secure a Cameroon signature.

On Monday evening, Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed that he now wants to join the Red Devils despite interest from other sides, including 25-year-old Tottenham.

While he misses out on a player as talented as the former Troys gem, it’s by no means ideal, but the good news is that Lily White links himself with another sensational talent compared to him: Xavi Simons.

Yes, according to a recent report from TeamTalk, Spurs is one of several teams interested in signing the RB Leipzig star.

The report argues that if North Londoners contacted the players’ camp in January and they chose to move forward with their interest, they would have to compete with Arsenal, Chelsea and potentially Liverpool.

The Dutch are valued at around £65 million by Leipzig, which is a costly and complicated transfer, and is worth fighting for, especially as he could be Tottenham’s answer to Mbeumo.

How Simons compares to Mbeumo

So, before entering into some other reasons the Spurs are about to sign Simons this summer, it’s important to look at this comparison to where they came from with Mbeumo.

This comes from FBREF, which compares players in similar positions in the Champions League and the Europa League, the top five leagues in Europe, and in this example, we have come to the conclusion that the Brentfordstar is the fourth-like offensive midfielder or winger in the last 365 days.

The best way to understand how this conclusion was reached is to look at some of the underlying metrics that the pair ranks closely, including non-target assists that the pair is expected, predicted assists for targets, shots and shots, goal-making actions, won, successful take-ons, and more, tastes per 90, tackles, and more.

In addition to their statistical similarities, the 22-year-old “Pocket Rocket,” dubbed by analyst Raj Chohan, could have the same effect on North Londoners, who many expect a bee ace to have with United.

For example, despite missing out on a part of the campaign with an ankle injury, the Amsterdam-born Dynamo managed to score 11 seriously impressive distances and eight assists in 33 appearances in the German outfit.

That is, he averaged goal involvement every 1.73 games for teams that struggled more than expected this season.

Finally, in addition to his abilities on and off the goal, the 26-cap International is positionally versatile and can attack midfield on either wing and play as center forward if necessary.

Ultimately, it’s not ideal to miss Mbeumo, but with Simons, Spurs can have a superstar in their own hands, so they should do everything they can to sign him this summer.
