Herve PonCharal supports reports from Tech3 MotoGP team leaving KTM

Tech3 KTM team boss Herve Poncharal responded to rumors that the French outfit was separated from the Austrian maker of MotoGP.

Tech3 has been using KTM since 2019 and has been Mattighofen Marque’s only satellite team in MotoGP so far.

However, a combination of KTM’s financial difficulties that began in 2024 and recent speculations about changes in ownership of the Tech3 team, linked to former Formula One Team Principal and WRC Team boss Guenther Steiner, led to the proposal that Tech3 could leave KTM by the end of 2025.

However, Poncharal claims he is happy to work with KTM and intends to continue that relationship beyond 2025.

“I have a contract (now), a valid contract, and a really good deal. I would like to thank Stefan Pierer, Hubert Trunkenpolz and Pit Beirer for giving me this working relationship.”

“Our contract is until the end of 2026, and I’m not told that there’s no signs and it won’t happen. So 2026 will be four Red Bull KTMS On-Tracks: Acosta, Binder, Vinales and Bastianini.”

Poncharal added that his intention is to continue working with KTM beyond 2026 and advance into MotoGP’s 850cc reception regulations.

“Even from 2027 to 2031, everything I want, and everything I’m working on right now, is to sign a deal with KTM and become the second KTM team on the grid.

“But I’m not talking to any other manufacturers at this time.

“I have read a lot, but for now I can promise that 100% of our energy is to work with KTM until the end of 2026 and work on a new contract with KTM for 2027-2031.

“We trust them and we’re sure they’re there in a competitive package.”

Finally, Poncharal said he hopes to organize and secure the future of his team by the end of 2025, but admitted that such targets are very vague.

“I want to make everything clear by the end of 2025 (…),” he said.

“But the end of 2025 could be September, but it could be October.

“I’m not giving an exact date at this point, but what I say is to do everything I can to have the structure and people in the MotoGP paddock for a few more years.”
