Debuting her stakes, starting two turns first, Cash Call Overtakes a stable Hauin on stretch to win Grade 3, $100,000 Summer Oaks Five three-year-old fillings will be appearing at Santa Anita, which will be 1/16 miles on Saturday.

Cash Call (1-2) settled out of pace as he raced out on clear and out of the race, clear, with trainer Bob Buffato on Saratoga’s Belmont Stakes Day. Howin (9-2) went to the lead and set a fraction of 23.50, 47.54, 1:11.63 on six furlongs.

Cash calls went up to a steady range near the quarter pole, taking a slight lead at the top of the stretch and outrunning a stubborn Howin to finish to win three-quarters of the length. It was a third 5-2 option with four more lengths back to our moonlight.

Cash call won with a 1:43.62 hour on the high-speed main track.

In her previous start, she was defeated in five lengths on the first level allowance, with six furlongs at Santa Anita on May 18th. She is 3, 3, after dropping her first two starts as a two-year-old.

“In the barn, they’ve always loved this filly,” Hernandez said. “I think she wasn’t ready in the first few races. But now she’s a little older and she’s getting better. … She showed a lot of heart and talent today. She’s broken sharply. I was in a good place.
