Tonight’s UFC 316 event was headlined by the highly anticipated Bantamweight Title Fight Rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley.
Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA) is back in action for the first time since winning his first successful title defense against Umar Nurmagomedov at the UFC 311 event in California. “The Machine” has entered the headlining of the night, boasting a 12-game winning streak, including victory over former UFC champions Petr Yan, Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo.
Meanwhile, Sean O’Malley (18-3 MMA) is back in the Octagon for the first time since dropping the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 306 to Dvalishvili last September. Before that set-up, Suga had put together an unbeaten streak of seven races.
Tonight’s UFC 316 main event proved to be another dominant performance for ruler and still champion Merab Dvalishvili. “The Machine” was able to connect to some good shots on the feet. Eventually, in the third round, Merab locked a north-south choke that forced Sean O’Malley to tap out. It was a very impressive performance from the Georgian period, what many of his peers called him a bantamweight goat.
