The Baborat racket used by Rafael Nadal in the 2017 French Open Finals was sold at the Fame Memorial auction on Sunday for $157,333.20, including the buyer’s premium.
The previous record was Racket Nadal, which was used at the Australian Open in 2022. His last Grand Slam title when he defeated Danil Medvedev – sold at Sotheby’s in 2023 for $139,700.
In 2017, Nadal defeated Stan Wawrinka in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 in the record-breaking 10th French open title. He didn’t drop all the tournaments and continued to win four more titles with Roland Garros.
Nadal’s 2017 French Open Racket matched a light-up resolution for 24 different matches over Nadal’s 2017 season, including the Madrid Open Final, the Miami Open Final, the 2017 Australia Open Final, and the 2017 Australia Open Final, where Nadal may have lost to Roger Federer.
“It’s rare to find the final used racket of a Grand Slam from Rafael Nadal,” reads the description of the memorial lot of fame. “It’s unprecedented to find one light-measured throughout the clay season (and beyond) that concludes with the French open title.”
The custom-made racket includes his “Rafa” emblem on his throat and a 2017 French Open string sticker with “RG 2017 Nadal” written on it.
