Manchester City completed the signing of Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki before the start of the transfer deadline this summer.

Preparing to feature in the Revamped Club World Cup, City has confirmed that Cherki has signed a five-year agreement with the reported £34 million transfer fee.

The 21-year-old will be the second signature of current window Pep Guardiola, following Rayan Ait Nouli through the doors of Etihad Stadium.

Cerki adds another exciting offensive option to the citizens who appeared in Lyon last season.

France International has registered 32 goal involvement (12 goals, 20 assists) in 44 appearances in all competitions.

In League One last season, Junya Itto (83) is the only one who creates more opportunities than Cherki (75) and is likely to fill the gap left by Kevin De Bruin.

“This is a dream for me,” Cherki said. “To be honest, it’s special to have the opportunity to join a club like Manchester City and take the next step in my career here.

“I have worked so hard all this time, and I love the sport and I can’t wait to see it grow further in Manchester with Pep and his backroom staff.

“Everyone knows how good the city is. They have been extremely successful over the years. The responsibility to help the team keep winning is something I want to embrace.

“I’m just leaving Lyon for a project I really believe in, and everything at City suggests that they can develop their own game and help the team succeed in the future.

“I can’t wait to show my city fans what I can do.”

Cherki was able to make his city debut next Wednesday when he launched his Club World Cup campaign against Widad at Lincoln Financial Field.
