Manel Kape is out of another fight.
“Starboy” was scheduled to line up with Brandon Roybal at UFC 317 at the International Combat Week fest in Las Vegas this month. Unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore after Kape broke his leg while training due to future collisions.
Currently there is footage of the incident courtesy of X’s ESPN knockout.
“I suffered from a broken leg while training. After a medical evaluation, I was instructed to focus 100% on surgery and recovery,” Kape wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s not easy to get away from what I’ve prepared with so much dedication. This will be the most lucrative battle of my career, but this is another challenge along the way and I understand that I trust the plans Allah has for me!”
This is the 11th time one of Kape’s fights has been cancelled after a four-year run in the promotion. It is unclear how long “Starboy” will be on the sidelines due to injuries, but fortunately, the UFC has been able to fuss about his Loibal replacement.
Joshua Van Steps Up to Replace Manel Kape in UFC 317
“Raw Dawg” will be on line with Joshua Van on June 28th
Van played in UFC 316 and earned a three-round TKO over 12th place Bruno Silva. The victory extended his unbeaten streak to four, moving his overall record to 7-1 in the octagon.
If the van can pull off the Las Vegas upset, he could surge towards the top of the rankings and solidify a shot of the reign of flyweight King Alexander Pantoja.
