Alex Pereira teases imminent UFC returns: “Happy back to fight camp.”

Former two-weight UFC champion Alex Pereira has continued his imminent return to the Octagon later this year, revealing that he has once again joined the fight camp during a link to his third quarter title rematch with Magomed Ankalaev.

Pereira, who headlined UFC 313 in March this year, dropped the controversial light heavyweight crown to the Russians.

And the defeat led Pereira’s dominant run at the light heavyweight limit to a crashing halt after a successful title reign over three fights.

Pereira, who defends the crown from Jiri Prochazka, Jamahal Hill and incoming headliner Khalil Rountree, was not hit for a second time in his octagon run, following his previous knockout loss at middleweight restrictions by longtime rival Israel Adesanya.

However, linking with the immediate title siege against the newly crowned Ankaraev, Pereira revealed that he is back in fight camp before returning to action later this year.

“I’m happy to be back at camp,” Alex Pereira posted this evening on his official Instagram account.

And earlier this week, the Sao Paulo knockout star confirmed his intention to fight Ankaraev immediately in October to revenge his defeat to the Russian star.

“(The rematch) is my focus, and that’s what I want and that’s what it will happen,” Pereira said in an interview with UFC Brazil this week. “I don’t know (when), we’re not talking, but around October. It could be September, October, November. That’s not important to me. That date is perfect for me.”
