Conor McGregor was absolutely shredded by Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham during his recent social media exchange.
Since announcing his candidacy for Ireland earlier this year, the former 2nd District UFC champion has become far more vocal on political issues. On Monday, “The Notorious” decided to shave the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Cunningham wrote about the Israeli seizure of Freedom Frotira, the Gaza activist boat carrying Gaza activists’ ships when McGregor attacked the actor accordingly.
“The Fleet of Freedom was attacked in the middle of the night. The ship plunged in and boarded, and 12 volunteers were invited,” Cunningham wrote. “This is a more condemnable action from the Tel Aviv genocide regime.”
“I thought I was on this boat Riamo, what’s wrong?” McGregor replied. “Did you forget your goggles? Do you get sea sick from gargling? Bottler.”
It didn’t take long for Cunningham to come up with a comeback.
“I didn’t know you could read or write, Connor,” Cunningham returned. “I used my hand to tap out.”
Hilariously, Conor McGregor removed his part of the exchange a few hours later.
Cunningham’s comments were a clear reference to McGregor’s fourth round filing loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2017. McGregor also faced Nate Diaz two years ago.
McGregor is only 1-3 in his final four fights against the promotion, and his losses all come far away. “Mystic Mac” regularly teased his long-awaited UFC returns, but after purchasing the 2018 bare-knuckle-fighting championship and taking responsibility for sexual assault, his “biggest comeback in the history of combat sports” probably won’t happen anytime soon.
