Dovizioso and Augusto Fernandez, who are hoping Fabio Quartaralo will use more of Yamaha, have tested the V4.

However, Yamaha has improved its current inline 4, confirmed team boss Massimo Melegari.

“The test team is busy developing both,” he said. “The current bike (inline 4) and the new bike (V4 engine). With the new bike, we only did functional tests.

“We’re not a moment to evaluate performance. The guys in the factory test this bike only when they believe that performance is enough to feel it and understand it.”

Yamaha’s tests in Barcelona were added to the official MotoGP Aragon test on Monday.

The concession rules will quickly improve the extra testing of Yamaha and Honda tests.

“It’s always important to test,” Melegali said. “We don’t have enough time to test it anytime, anywhere.

If you see the final race results, you can’t say it was positive. ”

Melegari has discovered the difference in Yamaha’s efforts at Aragon Motogue this year compared to 2024.

“But if you compare it to last year? We ended with a 39-year gap, but (this year) it was 19 seconds,” he said.

“Last year’s fastest lap was 1.3 seconds (this year) and it was less than a quarter of the bike, which is monitoring the improvements on the bike. Fabio had a really good lap time.

“We had a few updates on the engine, but only a few updates. We were constantly looking for setups that we couldn’t do on the race weekend. The plans were longer than we had!

“The way we work is, if they don’t feel negative, it’s the way we work. It’s a matter of tweaking.”
