Former incontroversial bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt tore fellow former champion Sean O’Malley ahead of his return to UFC Atlanta this weekend.
Garbrandt, who returned to action for the first time this year when he competes in Georgia this weekend, will face Brazilian veteran Raoni Barcelos.
Since the UFC 300 earlier last year, Garbrandt opened up a spare card in a pair’s bantamweight conflict with a final backward choke submission loss against former flyweight kingpin Daveson Fijueliedo.
Seeing his impressive two-game winning run halted in a loss to the Brazilian, Garbrandt had previously won both Trevin Jones and Brian Kelleher.
And Garbrandt has long said he will have a Kryptonite to abdicate the dominant bantamweight champion of Dvalishvili, the highly vocal Dvalishvili of the former’s latest outing on the weekend at UFC 316.
Dvalishvili defended the crown for the second time and did the light work of O’Malley above.

But as far as Garbrandt is concerned, Candidate Series Alum O’Malley was in vain. Garbrandt claims he looked like “Sh*t” in his return to New Jersey.
“He (Shawn O’Malley) should continue smoking because he looked like sh*t (against dvalishvili).” “But yeah, you know what he had to do, you know that you’re losing, you try to reinvent yourself and find yourself. And at the end of the day, you know who you are,
“You had to do it. I know I’m one of the best players in the world,” explained Cody Garbrandt. “So when you lose, you’re like you’re in your ears and in your ears saying you need to do this and do it.
