After failing to negotiate a new contract with Abdoulaye Doucure, Everton sees the French depart and reportedly looks at his potential alternative in the £25 million deal.
Everton needs to replace Doucure this summer
Because of a key moment consistent with his experience, Everton failed to offer Doucure a new contract at Merseyside to Doucure with the decision to be desperate to not regret next season. The veteran midfielder spent five years at the club on a spell filled with ups and downs, from being dropped by Frank Lampard to the prosperity of Sean Dysch and David Moet.
Doucure was the man who scored the goal Everton was floating in the 2022/23 campaign, and he was the man who fought against Curtis Jones, who proved to be his ultimate Merseyside derby. The French have turned the scouse, but there is no denying that replacing his influence is not a simple task for Toffee this summer.
Saying goodbye to the fans, Doucure said at the end of last season: “Hello Everton Anne – I just wanted to share this message with you that I am planning on leaving the football club at the end of the season.
“After five great years, my time at Everton is over. Everton means a lot to me.

Toffee has arranged bargain transfers…
This is the decision that Everton must justify by signing a young, improved model this summer, and to their credit, they can do that precisely by welcoming certain particular midfield stars.
Everton is paying attention to the £25 million Yarmolyuk deal
As reported by Catchoffside, Everton is currently paying attention to the summer dive to sign Yegor Yarmolyuk in Brentford.
The 21-year-old is represented by the same agent as Everton’s left back Vitali Mikorenko, and is now able to join his fellow countrymen at Merseyside and hand over his Doucoa alternative. However, joining Everton in pursuit of his signature are Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United.

While it’s more solid than Doucure and outperformed the French when it made progress last season, there’s even arguing that Yarmolyuk is not just an alternative, but an upgrade to the former Everton guy.
At just 21 years old, the Ukrainian-born midfielder has already found himself at the heart of praise. Analysts were able to see Brentford star traded West London for Merseyside in January, dubbed “undervalued” and “physical.”
In the deal reportedly costing around £25 million, Toffee immediately replaced Doucure in the process, starting his summer business with an absolute bargain.
