Despite making his MotoGP debut with Manuel Gonzalez in the Aragon MotoGP test, Davide Brivio, the boss of the trackhouse team, claims that the US-owned team is “not looking for riders.”
IntactGP Moto2 rider Gonzalez won his first taste of MotoGP in a recent post-race test at Aragon, finishing in seventh place in the Moto2 race on Sunday.
Gonzalez’s debut could happen after practice practice at Silverstone, and he continued recovery from injuries, leaving Ai Ogra, who couldn’t compete in Aragon.
Truckhouse claims Manuel Gonzalez has not been brought to trial
Gonzalez had no previous links to the Truckhouse team, but Brivio dismissed the idea that the test was an audition of all sorts of 2026 rides on the satellite Aprilia team. The test said it was “now” at the 22-year-old, currently leading the Moto2 World Championship despite his mistakes in the Silverstone race and his qualified mistakes in Aragon.
“We are happy and proud,” Brivio said.
“It’s a present. There’s nothing better than this.
“We had a bike, the AI unfortunately couldn’t ride, so we decided to do something good.
“Manu said everything was faster. He was talking about engine mapping. He used the device.
“He seemed to understand well and quickly picked up what he needed to learn.
“We’re not looking for riders. We have AI and Raul (Fernandez) who have a 2026 deal. That’s not the purpose.
“But it’s interesting that the team has experience with newcomers. The team has to learn how to work with rookies, which is useful for us.
“As a trackhouse, when I spoke to Justin Marks (owner of Truck House Racing), he was very excited to give him the opportunity.
“I think (Gonzalez) has all the traits that step up.”
However, while the Italians were grateful for the Spaniards’ performance, Gonzalez told the RS-GP that he was “faster than expected” comfortable.
“It’s fine, it’s fine,” Brivio told Motogp.com about his team’s rookie test with Manuel Gonzalez.
“It’s fun to have this experience to see young riders for the first time on a MotoGP bike. To see excitement, smiles.
“In fact, he speeded up very quickly, faster than expected.
“It’s going well, he’s trying to understand MotoGP.
“There are different tires, carbon (brake) discs. The usual things we know.
“We went through this with Ai Ogura a few months ago.
“We did a small crash in Turn 2. It’s an Aragonian classic, but aside from that, everything is fine.
“He tried to start practice, a little bit of everything.
“This day I’ll give him what MotoGP is and what it means to ride MotoGP.
“From a physical standpoint too – different muscles, running is another way.
“These guys – the Ai were the same, Fermin (Aldegure) – they jump into MotoGP and get the impression they’re bikes.
