UFC legend Kamal Usman gave him his thoughts on what went wrong with Patchy Mix’s UFC debut against Mario Bautista.
Heading towards UFC 316, there was a lot of excitement about MIX’s impending UFC debut. The sense of Bellator in the past was that he built a considerable reputation in the promotions and when he was signed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he would pick up where he left off. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to an absolute extent.
Instead, Mix had a rather convincing defeat to the aforementioned Mario Bautista. It was a one-sided event, and for some reason the patch could not have any shape or shape.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Kamal Usman gave him his thoughts on what happened.
Kamaru Usman on Patchy Mix’s UFC debut
“To be honest, I think Patchy Mix is too heavy,” Usman said on the 4-pound podcast. “I think so. He looked like his body wasn’t responding. It wasn’t the patchy mix we were looking at. Everything was flat. The mix of patches really threw one punch. It was a hook. It was a right hook.
“I didn’t see a combination. I didn’t see 1-2-3 from the patch mix. I rarely saw 1-2. Bautista mixed it together, went to his body and kicked it.
“Patchy Mix has all the skills, lots of skills, and I think he can definitely be at the top of this division, but that weight cut looks bad, so I think we need to think about what that weight cut is like.”
