Chelsea vs LAFC – Who do you look out for?

Fresh from behind recent successes in Europe, the youthful side of Enzo Maresca has already strengthened their ranks with a handful of important signatures, with Strasbourg’s Mamade Sarle joining Liam Dellup of Ipswich Town and taking part in the move to Stamford Bridge.

The new arrivals of these two are lined up to make Chelsea’s debut against MLS opponents, but there is even more excitement surrounding new guys Dario Estugo and Andrei Santos who has returned home.

In particular, Delap will bolster the forefront, including the already dazzling Cole Palmer. The Blues Amulet is looking to score 67 goals and assists in just 91 games in 91 games so far. The South American duo of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Kayseko, behind the British, will prove once again important to the club’s fate.

As for the sides hoping to throw early spanners on the production, LAFC boasts a handful of familiar faces to the Premier League audience at their core, along with the French duo who won the World Cup on both ends of the pitch and the French duo who won the World Cup run by Olivier Giroud.

Of course, the meeting will be like a reunion of Giroud, following the previous three and a half years of stay in London. The veteran striker remembered six goals for Chelsea’s Champions League victory four years ago.

The 38-year-old, who has only scored five goals in the state, is not a danger to manager Steve Cerundo, but number 99 Dennis Banga has achieved over 20 MLS goals in each of the last two seasons before scoring eight nets in eight league games in 15 league games in 2025.

Who else is in Group D?

Chelsea’s Premier League status will become an overwhelming favourite to advancements from Group D, but Brazilian outfit Flamengo will offer a tough test that won the Coparibata Dose in 2022.

Both of these head into the second round of games as former Chelsea man Gorguinho bids to make his Serie A side debut amid the exit of his recent free transfer from Arsenal.
