An interesting moment unfolded during the match between the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2025 (TNPL 2025) between the Dindiguru Dragons and the Sietheim Madurai Panthers on Saturday, June 14th, at Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium.
It all happened on the second ball of the first innings when the Dindiguru Dragons fielder turned a simple catch into a complete comedy show, with former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin being surprisingly part of the drama on Saturday night.
Ravichandran Ashwin involved in the TNPL 2025 drama as Dindigul misses three easy runouts
Tailender Gurjapneet Singh of Siechem Madurai Panthers tapped the ball into the cover and asked for a simple single. And for Dindiguru things were hilariously wrong. Dindiguru skipper Captain Ravichandra, their captain Ravichandran Ashwin, was a direct hit, but missed the stump.

The ball was not collected neatly by the stump, and the batter grabbed the second run. This allowed the batsman to steal his second run. However, the drama didn’t end there as another fielder in the short midwicket fired a wild throw, missing the target and made the batter sneak up on his third run.
Then came the third throw from the short third guy. For a while, it seemed that the batter even ran four of his own. In total, the Madurai batsman ran three runs in what should have been a mere point thanks to three misfielding.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s Blazing Nock Powers Dindigul Wins the Panthers 9 wickets in TNPL 2025 Clash
This error helped Siechem Madurai Panthers reach 150/8 in 20 overs, but the joy didn’t last long. Defending champions, the Dindiggle Dragons, turned the game into a one-sided event with a fierce pursuit that surprised Salem.
Opening for Dindigul, Ashwin led from the front with 49 balls splitting in a 29-ball crack, with his team chasing the target with just 12.3 overs, sealing off the dominant nine-wicket victory in the TNPL 2025 Clash against the Panthers on Saturday. Ashwin was also stitching together the opening stands of the Monster 124 Run, which was even more explosive.
Shivam remained unbeaten with an off-sensational 86 balls of 41 balls, entertaining the crowd with 4 and 6 of 6. Ashwin also destroyed six boundaries and three six. The Dragons are proving why they are the teams that will win this season. Celebrities like Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and Baba Indrajith are listed in the ranks, making them look strong to defend their titles.
In particular, Ashwin has already retired from international cricket, but he is actively involved in domestic cricket. However, the offspinner didn’t have the Chennai Super Kings and the great IPL 2025, but he shows his class in the ongoing TNPL 2025.
