UFC CEO Dana White has updated the heavyweight title unified clash between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, claiming that the promotion will move to another pairing if a resolution is not found immediately to see the fight.

As recently as last November, Jones and Aspinel appeared on a clear collision course for heavyweight titles, with both champions hoping to unify the crown at the turn of the year.

However, attempts from the organization to Goad Jones prove that Aspinall is fruitless to book a postponed return against the UK star.

Earlier this month, however, White claimed that Jones agreed to play Aspinel in the previously expected title unification match, but multiple reports detail how the Rochester native retreated from the match and rejected his initial agreement.

And in a few weeks since White’s comments, news about Jones – the Aspinel Front is quiet and therefore dark. And speaking to UFC boss White’s Jim Roma tonight, who once claimed he was “100% confident” to book a Superfight, but admitted he needed to move on from the showdown.

Dana White Offers Desolate Jon Jones – Tom Aspinall Update

“John Jones never turned down anybody here or had never been afraid to fight anyone,” White told Jim Roma. “I don’t know. I’ll see how this will work in the next few weeks. But yeah, if we can’t get this fight, we’ll move on quickly. We’ll get the answer in the next few weeks.”

But White’s claim that Jones is reluctant to turn down a fight during his tenure in the gold-loaded Octagon is less than passing.

Following the withdrawal of Dan Henderson, who wanted to be his opponent, ahead of the UFC 151 pairing several years ago, Jones is infamous for fighting infamous title challenger Chael Sonnen. This cancelled the entire flagship card.

“John Jones said I wasn’t fighting Chael Sonnen on the 8-day ‘notice’. The world champion refused the fight, that’s Not once White said at the time.
