French Open Semi-finalist Royce Boisson loses Wimbledon qualifier

LONDON – French Open Shock semi-finalist Royce Boson misplaced within the first spherical of Wimbledon qualifying.

Boisson, 22, was overwhelmed 6-2, 6-7 (1), 6-4 on Tuesday, dealing with 197th-placed Canadian Carson Bransteen, enjoying an uncommon match in French grass on the Roehampton Qualifier venue.

Boisson surged from 361 to 65 after working deep for Roland Garros in his Grand Slam primary draw singles debut, and earned the highest seed within the Wimbledon qualifying draw.

The denied wildcard to Wimbledon’s primary draw sparked criticism in France of London’s event organizers.

Boisson defeated prime 10 gamers Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva on the French Open, dropping to final champion Coco Gauff.

The principle draw for Wimbledon begins on Monday.
