Johnny and Leona Velazquez have been publicly acknowledged on Wednesday for his or her long-standing dedication to the backstretch group in Saratoga, Belmont Park and Aquidobashi.

“Everybody who has spent loads of time across the racetrack is aware of that individuals who care about their horses are really the anonymous heroes of our sport,” Velazquez mentioned. “Leona and I are proud to assist the varied backstretch applications hosted by racetrack pastors in New York.
Like habits, Johnny and Leona Velázquez have been offered with a framed racing scene created by Tom Chapman, a horse artist from the New York racetrack Chaplain.
Since 2012, Corridor of Fame member Johnny Velázquez has received over 6,700 races, two Eclipse Awards, six Triple Crown races and 21 Breeders’ Cup races. He co-chairs the Jockey Guild and serves as a New York Racetrack Pastor. Leona Velazquez is on the board of administrators of the Belmont Little one Care Affiliation, and she or he and her household have labored in varied backstretch organizations for many years.
The department has raised a capability crowd of supporters from all segments of the racing trade and set a document of funding.
