SYDNEY — Two-time Grand Slam singles champion Lleyton Hewitt returned from retirement in doubles on the New South Wales Open Challengers Match with son Cruise on Thursday, however they misplaced within the quarter-finals.
Hewitt, 44, a former world No. 1 who received the US Open in 2001 and Wimbledon in 2002 and retired from singles in 2016, teamed up along with his 16-year-old son Cruz to defeat Hayden Jones and Pavle Marinkov 6-1, 6-0 on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, the daddy and son crew misplaced 7-5, 6-4 to Dane Sweeney and Callum Patergill within the quarter-finals.
Lleyton Hewitt is Australia’s Davis Cup captain. Cruise Hewitt is one among three kids he has along with his spouse, former actress Bec Hewitt.
