
Lewis Hamilton’s disastrous debut season with Ferrari resulted in catastrophe in dash qualifying for the F1 Qatar Grand Prix.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton struggled along with his tempo and withdrew from SQ1 within the remaining dash race of the season in Qatar on Saturday, with an excellent time ending 18th on the grid.
Hamilton suffered one other dismal qualifying end result, reporting over the staff radio that his Ferrari “could not go any sooner”. Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc was ninth.
That is the second time in a qualifying session that Hamilton has retired within the first section.
On the final Las Vegas Grand Prix, Hamilton suffered the humiliation of qualifying final for the primary time in his 17-year F1 profession, ending twentieth.
The 40-year-old Briton gritted his tooth and felt depressed once more in his post-session interview, giving simply 9 phrases to Sky Sports activities F1’s Rachel Brooks.
When requested why his Ferrari was so troublesome to drive, Hamilton answered candidly:
Hamilton was then requested if the modifications he made to the automotive had made any distinction, to which he replied with a smile: “No, undoubtedly not.”
Requested if there was something constructive for tomorrow, Hamilton quipped: “The climate is good.”
What was unsuitable with Hamilton?
Sky Sports activities F1’s Bernie Collins assessed Hamilton’s plight, saying: “It is disappointing to see him so depressed, however he will not be glad along with his efficiency at this time. So what’s the issue?”
“Is it a change between P1 and qualifying? They weren’t glad in P1 anyway. Why can that Ferrari work some weeks and never others?”
