Valtteri Bottas has bid an emotional farewell to Mercedes as he strikes to the brand new Cadillac F1 staff for 2026.
The 36-year-old Finn spent the 2025 season as Mercedes’ reserve driver after Sauber opted to not renew his contract on the finish of 2024.
Bottas bid farewell to the Brackley staff he drove alongside Lewis Hamilton from 2026 to 2021 after the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The ten-time Grand Prix winner has secured a full-time return to the F1 grid with Cadillac in 2026, alongside former Pink Bull driver Sergio Perez.
Bottas shared a heartfelt message to Mercedes on his social media following his official departure from the Silver Arrows.
“Thanks Mercedes,” he wrote. “It was nice to be again with my household throughout my ‘hole 12 months’ this season.
“This staff will all the time have a particular place in my coronary heart and I actually respect the chance to be their third driver.
“I now have extra respect than ever for the staff, the game, and everybody concerned. I want you all the very best in your future endeavors. See you quickly!”
Bottas to work with Cadillac quickly
Cadillac welcomed Bottas to the staff on Monday, posting a photograph of him with the caption, “The time is now.”
Mercedes allowed Bottas to start out work instantly after Sunday’s ultimate race of the season.
Bottas wasted no time in integrating into the brand new staff and has already created a seat to suit the Cadillac.
“Hey, that is a pleasant seat,” Bottas stated in a video shared by Cadillac on social media.
“Look, it is a very good seat. It is my seat.”
