Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Astinol has revealed he is approaching the long-established action he has been anticipated.
Aspineol, who has been a provisional heavyweight loot since the end of 2023, has been on the sidelines since protecting his belt at UFC 304, originally from the UK, in July.
And in the process, the Atherton native, who revenged his only promotional defeat, won a dominant opening round knockout victory over perennial contender Curtis Braides, and the impressive first defense of his interim title.
However, since then, Aspinall has failed to secure a title unification clash with Rochester native John Jones, who holds a portion of the heavyweight crown.
Jones hasn’t acted since last November, but most recently led the Ohio veteran to retirement, earning a dominant third-round knockout victory over Steep Miocic.
And as Jones seeks to be stripped of his championship, Tom Aspinoll revealed this week that there are some news on the horizon about his return to his actions.
Tom Aspinall offers positive updates on UFC returns
Though lacking in his revelation that he actually fights Jones, Britt details how he set aside the date and place to make a comeback to the octagon.
“You guys are going to see it soon,” Tom Aspinel said during his appearance. Good guy/bad guy. “This is an exciting time for the heavyweight division. We’re going to move… I say something to you. I have a date and a place.”
Aspineol, who won his first heavyweight booty in 2023, has actually replaced Jones, who was hit by an injury at Madison Square Garden.
And then, stopping the surgent Sergei Pavlovich in the first round, Aspinall recorded an epic opening round knockout victory over the Russians, breaking through with his premier title outing.
