Carmelo Anthony hopes the New York Knicks will be aware of the pairing of Giannis Antetocomo and Jalen Branson.
The New York Knicks are actively making major changes to their side after the final of the Eastern Conference.
The first step was to remove Tom Thibodeau. Since then, they have approached several coaches who already work in the NBA. Unfortunately, all these teams stopped the Knicks before they made progress.
Now, the Knicks are targeting Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown, so they have to make sure they close the negotiations soon. But what about their roster changes?
The Knicks have recently been linked to Giannis Antetocompo. However, one Knicks legend believes the franchise cannot afford to hurry up to land the Big Man.
Carmelo Anthony told a podcast about the New York Knicks that Giannis Antetocomo could land on the blockbuster trade.
Mello referenced Jason Kidd, a Knicks coach candidate and current Mavericks coach. His concern is that the Knicks aren’t thinking about whether Jalen Branson and Giannis fit well.
“Jason Kidd understands what these types of security guards need. He understood when (he) had Luka (Donchic) and JB (Jalen Branson) together, which is what they needed.
“Who is that spot? It’s not Giannis (antetokounmpo). It’s not others. It’s not.
“But we just know what we’re getting. Do you like Giannis and JB together, or do you like JB and Kat (the town of Karl Anthony)?”
“They may not keep Mitchell Robinson, but now they have to start saying the best for us when Giannis comes… this is a package that we have to give up for Giannis, and now we have to build other types of teams.
The New York Knicks may want to land Giannis Antetocompo, but the forwards rarely take part this offseason.
First of all, Giannis has stopped trading talks for now and focuses on being with the Milwaukee Bucks.
But even if Giannis is ready to go, the Knicks have no assets to land him. Just like Kevin Durant’s Knicks package, the franchise can only purchase Karl-Anthony Towns and Salary Filler.
In fact, Patrick Beverly argued that the Bucks could seek Jalen Branson in Giannis’ trade because the other Knicks players are less valuable and there are no draft picks left.
However, if the Knicks can land Giannis Antetocomo with some good negotiations, they need to be ready to all-in in the NBA Championship and put them in the best possible position to lead them to victory.
