With Newcastle United’s qualifying for the Champions League next season, Eddie Howe hopes he can lure some well-known players to Stamford Bridge.
One of the players they are interested in is Jadon Sancho. The Manchester United winger appears to be leaving Old Trafford this summer.
The British will certainly bolster their wide choice given the club’s cost around £25 million and Chelsea’s return of five goals and eight assists this season.
If Hau could secure a deal with the former Borussia Dortmund starlet, that would be a massive statement of intent. Adding wingers will help the club next season, but perhaps another position that needs to be strengthened first.
Newcastle will race to sign the Barcelona Star
One position that Howe has to improve is his goalkeeping division. The club has confirmed 47 Premier League goals in the previous term, making it the worst defensive record from any side of the top five.
So it makes perfect sense to introduce top-class goalkeepers ahead of another Champions League campaign.
According to a Spanish report, Barcelona keeper Mark Andre Tar Tar Stegen is scheduled to leave the club after Joan Garcia arrives.
PSG, AC Milan, Manchester City and Juventus all expressed interest in German internationals, but Newcastle is also taking part in the race.
Beating these clubs over Ter Stegen’s signature is a big coup for Howe. That’s certainly true. Certainly he would be even better signing than Sancho.
Why Newcastle must sign Mark Andre Ter Stegen?
Signing Sancho could prove to be a massive gamble. For Man United, the winger scored just 12 goals in 83 games for the club. His loan spell at Chelsea didn’t even see him exactly as he glowed.
He only had five goals in his 41 games with the Blues. Given the fact that Newcastle can call players like Harvey Burns, Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy and more on the wing, do they have to splash to sign Sancho? There is a risk in particular related to his inactive form.
In this example, making Ter Stegen moves is considered a smarter approach. That’s certainly true.
Last season, Nick Pope held just eight clean sheets from his 35th appearance, while Martin Duvravka held five clean sheets in 10 domestic matches for Magpies.
If Howe is serious about making much progress in the Champions League next season, moving to bring Tel Stegen to England would be a very wise move.

He played just nine games for Barcelona last season, holding a lonely, clean seat. The German has been with La Liga Giants since the summer of 2014, playing more than 400 competitive matches in the process.
A total of 175 clean sheets are kept during that period. He may not have covered much of this semester, but he was great in the LA La Liga in 2023/24.
In 28 games, Ter Stegen made 2.7 saves per game (74% success rate) but succeeded with 100% of his runouts per game.
He was comfortable with the ball, as proven by an average of 40 touches per game, but his own half of 94% passing accuracy suggests that Germany moves the ball effectively.
The player was praised as “Ice Cool” by the popular X-page Goalkeeper.com for how he wiped out his opponent’s attacks in the Champions League in September 2023.
Given the fact that he is signing a contract with the Catalan Giants until 2028, the move costs the club, but it’s not decided how much Hanshifrik will demand from the players.
Sancho would definitely be a great signature, but taking Ter Stegen northeast will certainly turn your head.
