Tonight’s UFC Atlanta fight card was headlined by the highly anticipated welterweight matchup between Kamal Usman and Joaquin Buckley.
Usman (21-4 MMA) entered tonight’s contest in hopes of snapping a skid that lost three games. The former welterweight Kingpin had mostly competed before October 2023. There, at UFC 294, Kamzachimev suffered a majority decision loss.
Meanwhile, Joaquin Buckley (21-7 MMA) entered the headliner tonight, achieving a six-game winning streak. “New Mansa” was most previously active this December, but he won a TKO victory over former interim title holder Colby Covington.
Tonight’s UFC Atlanta main event has proven to be the dominant show from the former champions of Kamal Usman. Joaquin Buckley was able to pack some takedowns and land some heavy shots in the final round, but it was too late for “New Mansa.” Usman dealt a lot of damage while working from the top position on the floor. 25 minutes later, it was clear that since 2021 he had done enough to get his first victory.
