Fermin Aldeguer began Austrian MotoGP with a wheel spin synced to the again of Francesco Bagnaia from the sixth on the grid.
However he completed it sooner than anybody besides Mark Marquez within the second half of the race.
That burning tempo, together with being 0.4s sooner than the remaining area on lap 12 of 14, helped Gressini Rookie get better to sixth place on the checkered flag.
The younger Spaniard was 6.032 seconds behind race winner Marquez, however was lower than three seconds behind Pedro Acosta, and was the ultimate spot on the rostrum.
Aldeguer misplaced for about two seconds on the opening lap alone after a begin line up mess.
“I am glad,” Aldeguer informed Motogp.com.
“If it wasn’t for the primary slide, we might have fought for just a few extra, maybe on the rostrum as a result of I used to be very quick.
