Former interim bantamweight challenger Corey Sandhagen claims he has solidified his position as the next title challenger behind his victory over UFC Des Moines.
Returning to victory over the weekend, Sandhagen did so in an impressive way against the previous incontroversial flyweight kingpin.
He then forced his second knee injury with former Colorado title holder Deiveson Figueiredo, which resulted in a TKO victory.
After winning Figueird, betting on the shot’s claim at the winner of the UFC 316 headliners next month, Sandhagen has offered to fight either Merab Dvalishvili or longtime rival Sean O’Malley.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani Non-crowned Tonight, the perennial challenger repeated his call for the next title fight. About other candidates in Bantamweight limits.
I will definitely be on the show (UFC 316),” Corey Sandhagen said. “But I certainly think I got a shot in the title, especially since Umar (nurmagomedov) had just fought for the belt. The only other guy was (Petr) Yang, I hate being a politician and have to shoot someone else down to put me on a bit, but Yang lost to both (Dvalishvili and O’Malley).
“And he did five rounds with ‘figgies’ in a really competitive battle,” explained Corey Sandhagen. “I went round and half with ‘figgie’ in a truly uncompetitive one-sided fight that won and I ended up finishing. So I think I’m definitely the next guy. ”
In 2021, although tentative, Sandhagen suffered a decision loss to Abu Dhabi’s short-term candidate and incontroversial bantamweight kingpin Petr Yang.
