Manchester United’s 2024/25 Premier League campaign is something to be forgotten, with the side set to finish at the lowest position ever, along with a tally of the lowest points.
The Reuben Amorim man currently sits in 15th place and has only three matches left. All focus has switched to the prospect of claiming that Europa League victory will come at the end of the season.
The Red Devils have averaging 1.5 goals per 90 people so far, playing a key role in their inability to set up the table after the appointment of managers in November.
But they still have the opportunity to finish the season high.
If they are far ahead and won the competition, they will secure their qualifications for the Champions League and add the team depth they need to compete at the top level of European football’s next campaign.
Latest news on United’s new and additional hunts
Given that the summer transfer window is about to be round the corner, many have emerged, including Liam Dellup’s link, who is being promoted as the top target for clubs in the offensive division.
Ipswichtown’s Talisman scored 12 goals in 34 appearances in 2024/25, but is set to leave Kieran McKenna’s side after returning to the championship, where the forward’s £30 million release clause became active.
However, despite improvements in the forward region, the backline also needs investment, potentially coming in the form of Barcelona centre back Ronald Araujo.
The Red Devils say they are currently preparing a £68 million bid for Uruguay International, which has 22 appearances in all Lariga Giants competitions.
The report also claims that he has been highly praised by the behind-the-scenes staff at Old Trafford and could be a significant piece of work in their reconstruction.
Why United’s £68 million target brings back Andre Onana
Goalkeeper Andre Onana was considered the man who would take United to the next level after arriving in the summer of 2023, replacing fan favorite David De Gere in the process.
His ballplay attributes were considered an important attribute to help the sides progress, but the moves so far have been a disaster, often producing cleaners with lower league status.
The Senegalese have made five errors that lead to goals in all competitions, and his mistake against Lyon has flanked the tournament and ended his trophy hopes.
As a result, questions have been asked about his long-term future at Old Trafford, and it is unclear whether Amorim will stick or be keen on the former Inter Milan shot stopper in 2025/26.
However, he could be revived at the club. In particular, when strengthening the backline with Araujo’s movements, the 26-year-old has defensive qualities that will improve the situation.
Labeled by Carls Puyol as “one of the best defenders in the world,” Uruguiron has starred in this season, registering two goals and assists, despite his lack of action.
He also appears in the back, completes 91% of the passes, uniting and passing a composed presence in the back, undoubtedly removing pressure from the onana behind him.

Defensive solidity is desperately needed at Old Trafford, allowing Amorim to take the next level and make him a success while he is in his tenure at the club.
The deals they make over the next few months are extremely important and they will need to sign the right players to bring them back towards glory.
