Former UFC champion Petruyan takes a big step in the race for his next fight

Petr Yan will take a big step in the race for his next UFC fight unless his fellow candidate Cory Sandhagen agrees to a matchup.

Petr Yan

Yan is a former UFC Bantamweight Champion and is currently ranked 2nd in Weight Class. He is currently winning back-to-back decisions over the song Yadon and Daveson Figure Eguerade. Usually, that might be enough to guarantee a title shot. There’s only one problem. Yang was already defeated by champion Merab Dvalishvili and first contender Sean O’Malley, who will challenge the belt at UFC 316 in June.

As a result, Yang needs to win at least one more fight to win another crack in the belt.

If he goes his way, it will then be a battle with Cory Sandagen. Sandhagen resumed his activities last weekend in the main event of the dramatic UFC Des Moines card, beating Figueiredo in a second round of TKO due to injury. He is expected to be next to the winner of Dvalishvili-o’Malley. However, he may be booked for a rematch with Yang. Yang lost a few years ago.

That seems to be Yang’s number one choice at the moment. However, in an interview with Submission Radio, the Russian made a shocking reveal. If Sandhagen doesn’t agree to fight, he’ll take on Marcus McGee instead.
