Atletico Madrid, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are looking to add Girona Venezuelan midfielder Jangel Herrera to their team during the summer transfer.
Newcastle United are currently seeking qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and are looking to build progress this season. They are able to win the national trophy and are looking to improve further in the coming months. Manager Eddie Howe considers Herrera an ideal midfield reinforcement due to his physical strength, playmaking abilities and experience in La Liga.
Players have been held in the past as “tactically intelligent” midfielders.
Sources have been confirmed Catch off side Newcastle is not alone in the transfer race. Atletico Madrid and Nottingham Forest are also keen to add Herrera to the team.
Atletico and Nottingham Forest Want Yangel Herrera
Atletico Madrid plans to add energy and dynamism to the midfield, but Nottingham Forest is trying to build on impressive performances this season. They still coach for European qualifications and believe that players like Herrera can help them compete at a high level.
Herrera has been doing very well for Girona this season and has played a key role in the team’s success. The 27-year-old has been attracting attention both defensively and offensively for his contributions.
It would be interesting to see where he ends. The former Manchester City midfielder will want to compete at a high level and join the club with ambition.
Can Newcastle make a deal?
Newcastle will move quickly to secure his signature, but interest from Atletico Madrid and Nottingham Forest could complicate the relocation process. Negotiations between the clubs are expected to slow down in the coming weeks.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will be able to complete the deal. They have the resources the players can afford, but they also need to persuade him.
