John Jones can’t stop talking about Daniel Cormier.
“Bones” and “DC” delivered one of the UFC’s most intense rivals years ago. Jones ultimately won both of their mild heavyweight conflicts, but the latter of the two were not oppressed after Jones was arrested for Trinaborg in his system of traces.
However, “Bones,” which was removed for eight years from that encounter at UFC 214, is still talking about Cormier. why is that? Well, our dear ol’ uncle Chile thinks he has the answer, and it all comes down to John Jones’ unwavering spirit of competition.
“John has begun to break this fight, and it’s very interesting to see inside John’s mind,” Sonnen said in a video on her YouTube channel. “I mean, artists, right? There’s a fine line between genius and madness. I often wonder what John Jones is doing…
“So, when he starts to break Daniel Cormier and he starts to let you know, when you hear his injury, he’s letting you know that he’s not overcoming it. He’s not overcoming Cormier. He’s the one who won, and it’s very interesting. And you carry it on your shoulders. Online discussion of mythical matches with Cormier.”
John Jones is still talking about Daniel Cormier, but he completely ignores the interim champion he is fighting for.
Dana White claims that John Jones vs. Tom Aspinel will be announced “soon”
For over a year, fans have been trying a bit to see Jones unify the heavyweight title with Aspinel, who won the interim belt in November 2023 via a 69-second knockout from Sergei Pavlovich. Aspinall has since become the longest-serving interim title holder in the promotion, but has been lobbying for a fight with Jones, who is too busy to “live his best life” and too busy to sign.
Dana White tried to calm some of her concerns during the series of blockbuster announcements on Tuesday, telling everyone to relax and telling them that the much-anticipated showdown would be announced soon.
“I’ve already told you guys, we’ll complete Aspinall vs Jones,” White said. “There’s a heavyweight fight. I’ll relax and announce it soon.”
Given that we’ve heard it all before, White can’t really blame the fans for staying skeptical.
