Nuggets vs Thunder Game 6 Preview
The Nuggets-Thunder series has come to the wire and has a chance to advance with victory on Thursday night after a crazy ending in Oklahoma for Game 5.
The last time Thunder was able to make the conference finals in 2016, so a victory in Game 6 could end the eight-year drought.
Meanwhile, Nuggets are bidding in collaboration with Nikola Djokic to return to the Western Conference finals just two years later. He won the title when he last won it in 2023.
Anyone moving forward from this series will face off against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals after knocking out the Golden State Warriors in five games.
This year, the three MVPs face difficult battles if the team moves forward, but OKC is still a short favorite to win the championship this year.
In Game 5, MVP-elect Shay Gilgauss Alexander exploded and began his action, winning the team for the second straight time with 31 points and just six free throws on an efficient night.
Djokic couldn’t do it all himself in Oklahoma as the Serbs led the series despite another outrageous performance with 44 points, 15 rebounds and five assists.
If the Nuggets continue to live in the postseason this week, there’s no doubt that Jokic will need another big night, but he will need the help of others on the court, with the exception of Jamal Murray and previous playoff exceptions Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon.
It will be interesting to see how the team is working together this week, especially after Nuggets players are reported to have minor spats with Russell Westbrook.
The Thunder is a 5.0-point favorite in Game 6 despite playing on the road, but covers that spread in the final two games against Denver.
