Being an NBA player doesn’t just showcase your great skills on the court. The biggest superstars in the league are also role models and idols for millions of children around the world.

Most fans don’t get the chance to meet idols, but being the son of an NBA player certainly plays a role in realizing that dream.

Well, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry knows this pretty well, as he grew up around NBA players thanks to his father Del Curry, a NBA star.

Vince Carter’s tenure with the Toronto Raptors was nothing but magic. After all, Carter became famous while wearing the Raptors jersey thanks to his insane athleticism.

In fact, Carter won the nickname “Vinsanity” during his stint with the Raptors. Speaking of which, young Curry met Carter midway through his Vinsanity run, but the former NBA star had a major impact on the future 4X NBA champions.

“I mean, that guy would give the kid time in the middle of Vinsanity… I was a kid from his teammate, but I feel like he treated me the same way as the other kids who came to the gym,” Curry told Slam.

“(I was) trying to show him in my crossover move at 11. He taught me a great lesson, and at the time I didn’t know I was going to be an NBA player, an All-Star, and everything like that.

“But I remember how he treated me and how much fun it was to play 1-on-1 for five or ten minutes since he practiced,” he added.

Continuing with Carter’s story, Steph further added that the legendary action of the Raptors “scratched” him in a wonderful way.

“It showed the humanity of NBA players and the impact they could have. It scraped me off in a great way.”

In fact, Curry has made that gesture to thousands of kids as he spoke about getting a moment with NBA players.

“Yeah, you never know, I think that little connection moment comes a long way. You don’t know how influential it is for that kid. NBA players are talking to them.

With that attitude, it’s no wonder why Curry is the face of the game and is currently one of the most likable superstars in the NBA.
