Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly suffered a major transfer blow when Barcelona approached the signing of Espanyol goalkeeper João Garcia.
Fabrizio Romano has obtained an official X account and reports that Garcia’s potential move to Barcelona is extremely sophisticated and nearly complete.
As reported Catch off side Earlier this week, Barcelona has long looked at their favorites to sign Garcia, but it also attracted interest from Arsenal and Man United.
Romano’s latest update suggests that Barca was able to see slow complications and competition from other big clubs.
Garcia should be a major upgrade to Barcelona’s Mark Andre Ter Stegen and Woisiec Szczesny, so it’s a big boost to help Hansi Frick maintain the strong start he made at Nucamp.

In fact, Arsenal probably didn’t need Garcia, so he already has David Raya as the very reliable number one.
But for United, that’s a very different story, and Reuben Amorim definitely needs a top-class goalkeeper who will sign as quickly as possible after Andre Onana’s poor form.
Garcia may have been ideal to help kickstart this new United project, but it’s probably not surprising that he’s in favor of Barcelona.
Can Man United sign in to goal?
Another name to see could be Lucas Chevalier, with the goalkeeper on Lille being mentioned as the Man UTD target Catch off side Recent sources.
I imagine seeing some other names appear in weeks and months.
Still, United also has many other areas they need to strengthen this summer. So once you are able to focus your efforts on the new “keeper,” you need to see how quickly you can make your efforts.
